Eskom Bursaries 2024: Fostering Excellence in Engineering
Eskom is proud to announce the Eskom Bursaries 2024, a dynamic program designed to inspire and support students in the field of engineering. This initiative aims to encourage more individuals to pursue engineering disciplines and unlock their full potential. Moreover, it is a strategic effort to enhance South Africa’s labor market by preparing a skilled workforce to meet future demands in this evergreen and growing sector.
For the upcoming academic session, Eskom is offering bursaries to deserving students pursuing undergraduate degrees (B. Eng or B. Sc) in the following fields of study:
For University Studies:
- Chemical Engineering (B Eng / BSc)
- Civil Engineering (B Eng / BSc)
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) (B Eng / BSc)
- Electrical Engineering (Light Current) (B Eng / BSc)
- Mechanical Engineering (B Eng / BSc)
- Mechatronics Engineering (B Eng / BSc)
For University of Technology Studies:
- Chemical Engineering (Diploma)
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) (Diploma)
- Electrical Engineering (Light Current) (Diploma)
- Mechanical Engineering (Diploma)
The value of the bursary will be determined based on course fees and associated expenses, ensuring that recipients receive comprehensive financial support.
Eligibility Criteria for the Eskom Bursary: To qualify for the Eskom Bursary program, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria. It is essential to fulfill all requirements to ensure that your application is considered. Failure to meet any of these criteria will result in the rejection of your application. Therefore, carefully review the following criteria before applying:
For University Studies:
Must be a South African Citizen. Currently in Matric in 2023. Minimum achievement of Level 4 for English in Grade 11 finals. Minimum achievement of Level 5 for Pure Mathematics in Grade 11 finals. Minimum achievement of Level 5 for Physical Science in Grade 11 finals.
Intent to pursue one of the listed qualifications in 2024. Conditional acceptance to study at a recognized and accredited South African university. Not receiving any other bursary funding and not registered at any tertiary institution. Preference may be given to applicants from under-represented designated groups in line with Eskom’s employment equity plan and goals.
For University of Technology Studies:
Must be a South African Citizen. Currently in Matric in 2023. Minimum achievement of Level 4 for English in Grade 11 finals. Minimum achievement of Level 4 for Pure Mathematics in Grade 11 finals. Minimum achievement of Level 4 for Physical Science in Grade 11 finals.
Intent to pursue one of the listed qualifications in 2024. Conditional acceptance to study at a recognized and accredited South African University of Technology. Not receiving any other bursary funding and not registered at any tertiary institution. Preference may be given to applicants from under-represented designated groups in line with Eskom’s employment equity plan and goals.
Applicants with disabilities will receive priority consideration, and individuals from underrepresented designated groups will also be favored in the selection process.

Selected candidates will receive notification within 28 days after the bursary application deadline. If you do not receive any communication regarding your application, please consider it unsuccessful.
Required Documents: To facilitate the application process, prepare the following documents for upload:
- Certified copy of your ID document
- Certified copy of your Grade 11 final results
- Certified copy of your latest Matric results
- Proof of university registration on the university’s letterhead

Application Deadline: The Eskom Bursaries 2024 application window is currently open, with the closing date set for September 24, 2023. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
