Job Description: As a Facilities Cleaner at Dis-Chem Pharmacies, you will be responsible for the general maintenance of our external Distribution Centre. Your duties and responsibilities will include:
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12/Matriculation Certificate: This educational qualification is essential for this position. Minimum of 1 year of experience in tree felling or gardening: Experience in these areas is required to fulfill the responsibilities effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Grounds Maintenance: You will be responsible for maintaining the grounds by tasks such as grass cutting, emptying bins, weed control, and leaf raking. Landscaping: Planting new trees, flowers, and various plants when required to enhance the aesthetics of the facility.
Plant Care: Ensuring the maintenance of plant tubs and baskets to promote a healthy and vibrant garden environment. Litter Removal: Using designated equipment to clear rubbish and litter away from the Warehouse grounds, maintaining cleanliness.
Gardening: Planting seeds and watering when necessary to nurture plant growth. Landscape Design: Producing various designs and layouts for garden landscapes to create an appealing and functional outdoor space. Equipment Handling: Utilizing gardening equipment and hand tools correctly and safely to avoid injuries.
Tool Maintenance: Identifying and using the appropriate equipment and hand tools for each plant and job at hand. Ensuring that all tools and equipment are cleaned and stored according to Dis-Chem protocols. Cleaning Responsibilities: Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in areas such as the garden, shed, toilets, and bins.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring that all garden equipment is correctly maintained and serviced for optimal performance. Compliance: Adhering to Dis-Chem Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Health and Safety rules and regulations. Accountability: Taking responsibility for all equipment provided.
Competencies: Essential:
Good Communication Skills: Effective communication is key to coordinating tasks and collaborating with colleagues. Equipment Proficiency: A working knowledge of powered equipment such as Blowers, Brush cutters, Lawn mowers, and Pressure cleaners.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and propose effective solutions. Procedure Adherence: Recognizing the need for procedures and consistently following relevant protocols. Task-Driven: Demonstrating a strong work ethic and determination to complete assigned tasks.
Time Management: Effective time management to meet deadlines and accomplish goals. Tree Felling Machinery: Proficiency in handling tree felling machinery. Goal-Oriented: Driven by achieving targets and objectives.
Special Conditions of Employment:
South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens. Background Check: Successful candidates will undergo MIE checks, must have a clear criminal record, and meet credit requirements. Flexibility: Candidates must be willing to be rotated to different areas as needed and perform other functions within the department, as required.
Physical Demands: The role involves physical demands such as walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, pushing and pulling objects, lifting and moving objects, and repetitive bending.
