Key Responsibilities:
As a Shop Assistant/Cashier (P27), you will take on a variety of important tasks and responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the store. Your day-to-day duties will involve customer service, cashier functions, merchandising, and risk management.
Customer Service: Delivering Exceptional Experiences
One of your most important duties will be providing excellent customer service to enhance the shopping experience. You will be responsible for assisting customers in finding the products they need and ensuring they feel valued and attended to throughout their shopping journey.
Assist shoppers in locating products, providing product information, and guiding them as they navigate the store. Handle customer queries and complaints efficiently, ensuring that all issues are resolved quickly and to the customer’s satisfaction.
Create a warm, welcoming environment where customers feel appreciated and respected.
Cashier Duties: Processing Transactions with Accuracy
In this role, you will also handle cashier responsibilities, ensuring that all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. You will engage with customers at the till point, providing them with prompt and courteous service during payment transactions.
Process cash and card payments swiftly and with accuracy, ensuring the till is balanced at the end of each shift. Manage Lay-Bys, refunds, and exchanges in line with company policies, keeping customers informed of the process. Report any discrepancies or issues with transactions to your supervisor, maintaining transparency and accountability. Till balancing: Ensure that the till is correctly balanced at the start and end of each shift.
Merchandising: Ensuring an Attractive Sales Floor
As part of the store team, you will be involved in merchandising duties to ensure the store is well-stocked, neat, and appealing to customers. Stock Replenishment: Ensure that stock levels on the sales floor are consistently maintained. This involves restocking products promptly and ensuring that popular items are readily available. Product Presentation: Make sure that all products are priced correctly and displayed attractively according to company guidelines. You will also assist in maintaining visual merchandising standards to create an inviting shopping environment.
Housekeeping: Keep the store tidy and organized. This includes making sure that shelves, displays, and aisles are neat and free of clutter. Promotion Awareness: Stay up to date with current promotions, sales, and offers, ensuring that customers are informed and that promotional displays are well-maintained.
Risk Management: Safeguarding Store Operations
Risk management is another key component of the role. You will be tasked with ensuring that the store adheres to company policies and is vigilant about potential risks, such as theft or fraudulent activity. Product Tagging: Make sure that all products are tagged in accordance with company policy to prevent theft and loss. Stock Takes: Participate in regular stock takes to maintain accurate inventory records and minimize discrepancies.
Security Awareness: Be alert and observant on the sales floor, looking out for any suspicious activity such as shoplifting or fraud. If you notice anything unusual, report it immediately to store management. Compliance: Ensure that the store operates in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
