Role Summary
The Stockroom Controller is a vital team member responsible for managing stock processes and creating a seamless link between stockroom efficiency and customer experience on the sales floor. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing stock movements, maintaining high standards of organization, and ensuring that inventory is always ready to meet customer demands. Working in partnership with store management, you’ll play an active role in achieving our sales targets and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
As a Stockroom Controller, you’ll be taking on a diverse range of responsibilities to ensure smooth stockroom operations and contribute to our overall store performance. Your key duties will include:
Inventory Management & Stock Operations
Monitoring Stock Movement: Provide continuous feedback to management on stock issues, ensuring that all stock movements align with inventory management and sales targets. Receiving and Dispatching Stock: Oversee the accurate receiving, organizing, and dispatching of stock to streamline inventory control.
Efficient Stock Rotation: Work to move stock from the stockroom to the sales floor, meeting the store’s immediate product needs and ensuring availability for our customers. Timely Processing: Ensure all stock is processed promptly, reducing delays and making sure products are always ready for display.
Customer-Centric Support for Sales
Enhancing Customer Experience: Ensure that products are readily accessible and presented according to brand standards, allowing customers to find what they need when they need it. Achieving Sales Targets: Support store targets by aligning stockroom functions with sales goals and addressing any stockroom-related obstacles to meeting these objectives.
Housekeeping and Organizational Standards
Maintaining Order and Cleanliness: Keep the stockroom and store areas well-organized and tidy to enhance efficiency and maintain brand presentation standards. World-Class Housekeeping: Set high standards of cleanliness and order within the stockroom to support a professional and welcoming environment for customers and staff alike.
Shrinkage Control & Loss Prevention
Managing Shrinkage: Implement measures to control stock shrinkage, minimizing losses in line with company policies and contributing to the store’s financial success. Loss Prevention Strategies: Work closely with store management to employ effective strategies to protect stock integrity and reduce product loss.
Team Coordination & Leadership
Guiding the Stockroom Team: Provide guidance and direction to stockroom team members, fostering a supportive and efficient environment. Training and Development: Assist in training stockroom staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable about best practices in stock management and customer service. Adapting to Store Needs: Demonstrate flexibility in responding to store requirements, adapting to changing demands, and ensuring all shifts (including weekends and evenings) are covered to support business needs.
Embracing Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Adopting New Tools: Use and encourage the use of digital tools and technologies that optimize stockroom operations, making processes smoother and more efficient. Participating in Company Initiatives: Contribute to company-led initiatives to improve operational efficiencies, customer experience, and overall store performance.
Qualifications and Experience
We’re looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and background:
Educational Background: A minimum of Grade 12 qualification or an equivalent certification. Retail Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a stockroom environment is essential, with broader retail experience being a plus. Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role is advantageous. Hospitality Experience: A background in hospitality can be beneficial, although it’s not a requirement.
