JOB OVERVIEW

The Secunda Branch is seeking a qualified, experienced, and safety-conscious Code 14 Driver to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various Code 14 vehicles, transporting loads safely, and ensuring that vehicles are maintained in a suitable condition for road use.

This position requires a responsible individual who understands road safety regulations, follows company procedures, and handles vehicles, materials, and equipment with care. The ideal candidate must have practical driving experience, be comfortable operating manual gearbox vehicles, and demonstrate the ability to reverse a draw-bar trailer confidently. COMPANY OVERVIEW

The position is based at the company’s Secunda Branch, operating within the manufacturing and production industry. The role supports the branch’s operational requirements through the safe and responsible transportation of materials and equipment. The successful candidate will be expected to represent the company professionally while carrying out driving duties and interacting with customers, colleagues, and other road users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Code 14 Driver will be responsible for the safe operation of assigned vehicles and the proper handling of transported loads. Key duties include:

Vehicle and Load Management: Take responsibility for the assigned vehicle and its load, ensuring that materials and equipment are handled carefully throughout the journey. Daily Vehicle Inspections: Conduct daily inspections before operating the vehicle, identify any defects or mechanical problems, and report all faults through the appropriate channels. Loading and Off-Loading: Assist with or carry out the loading and off-loading of various materials and equipment as required by the job.

Road Traffic Compliance: Follow the Road Traffic Act and all applicable road regulations when operating company vehicles.Road Safety: Drive responsibly and take the necessary precautions to protect pedestrians, other motorists, passengers where applicable, and other road users. Occupational Health and Safety: Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company policies, workplace safety procedures, and relevant road regulations.

Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional approach when performing assigned duties and provide good customer service. Responsible Driving: Operate vehicles carefully and responsibly, ensuring that driving practices support the safe transportation of loads and equipment. The driver must be prepared to carry out practical duties associated with vehicle operation and material handling while maintaining the required safety and service standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the position:

• A minimum of Grade 12 or an equivalent school-leaving certificate.
• A valid, unendorsed Code 14 driving licence.
• A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• At least four years of Code 14 driving experience.
• Practical experience driving vehicles fitted with manual gearboxes.
• Demonstrated ability to reverse a draw-bar trailer, as this is a required skill.
• Experience operating a mounted grab crane will be an advantage but is not compulsory.

Candidates should have a hands-on, practical approach to their work and be capable of carrying out driving and related operational duties responsibly.
