MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum qualifications and experience include:

• Grade 12 or Matric certificate.
• At least six months of cleaning experience.

• Knowledge of an additional language relevant to the local area.
• Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including shifts according to the store’s operational requirements.

Previous experience in a retail store cleaning environment will be an advantage. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will perform daily cleaning duties to ensure that the store remains hygienic, presentable, and safe throughout its operating hours.

1. General Store Cleaning

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across the shop floor, stockroom, dispensary, administrative offices, and communal areas. Cleaning should be completed according to the required routines, with particular attention given to preparing the store before it opens to customers.

2. Canteen and Restroom Maintenance

Keep the staff canteen and restrooms clean, hygienic, and adequately stocked with the necessary cleaning and hygiene products. These facilities must be checked regularly to ensure that they remain suitable for use throughout the working day.

3. Ongoing Cleaning During Store Hours

Remain available to respond to cleaning requirements as they arise during normal store operations. This may include addressing spills, removing dirt, and attending to other situations that require immediate attention to maintain a clean and safe environment.

4. Safe Use of Cleaning Equipment

Use appropriate cleaning products, tools, and equipment for each task. Employees must follow the correct procedures when handling cleaning materials and ensure that equipment is used responsibly.

5. Health and Safety Compliance

Follow all applicable health and safety procedures when carrying out cleaning duties. Wet-floor signs must be clearly visible at both ends of the area being cleaned to warn customers and colleagues of potential slipping hazards.

6. Customer Service and Professional Conduct

Treat customers and colleagues politely and professionally. The Cleaner may need to respond to basic customer enquiries or provide assistance within the scope of the position while maintaining a helpful attitude.
