Position Overview

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment onboard the vessel. The position includes conducting safety rounds, providing gangway security, monitoring passenger and crew areas, and responding appropriately to safety or security-related incidents. The Security Guard works under the supervision of the Chief Security Officer when performing duties as a Response Guard, conducting safety rounds, or providing gangway security. The position requires a high level of alertness, professionalism, sound judgement, communication skills, and commitment to safety.

All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with the applicable ISM/ISO and Safety & Quality Management (SQM) standards, USPH guidelines, environmental requirements, and company safety policies. Every shipboard employee is expected to consistently demonstrate the principles of the STAR Program’s Credo and maintain professional and courteous conduct when interacting with guests, fellow crew members, supervisors, and other employees.

Company and Workplace Environment

4. Observation and Reporting

The Security Guard serves as an additional spotter throughout the vessel and is expected to remain alert for unusual situations or potential problems. Any unusual incident involving passengers, crew members, or the vessel must be reported immediately to the Chief Security Officer. If the Chief Security Officer is unavailable, the matter must be reported to the Deck Officer on duty.
